5 Amazing Alternatives to Botox Treatments

August 18, 2018

Botox is a common solution to fighting wrinkles and other signs of aging for women. The prescription medication is injected into the muscles of your face to give it a relaxed and smooth appearance. Botox is temporary, meaning you’ll need to continuously get injections. Here are five alternatives to the costly procedure.

1. Dysport

Dysport is similar to Botox. It has a slightly modified structure than Botox, but functions in the same manner. It tends to work a bit faster and is cheaper than Botox. It usually requires more doses of Dysport to achieve the same effects as Botox. It’s an available option, but not vastly different than Botox itself.

2. Aloe Vera and Vitamins

We’ve talked before on the amazing properties of aloe vera, but we might as well do it again for its relevance. Vitamins help with collagen protection and include antioxidants to reduce damage to your skin. If you’re not getting enough in your diet, consider taking an all-in-one supplement to maintain your appearance. Rub aloe vera on your face to reduce the formation of wrinkles. Both methods are preventative instead of reactive, meaning you’ll benefit from these most if you start before wrinkles are a concern.

3. Facial creams

Facial creams containing retinol, an anti-aging ingredient, are the best at keeping wrinkles at bay. It helps spur collagen growth and flattens wrinkles. Overnight creams combined with hydrating solutions work to smooth skin without causing redness, flaking, or irritation that more aggressive treatment creams can cause.

4. Makeup

Makeup can work wonders to decrease the appearance of wrinkles if applied correctly. Follow the rule of less is more. Too much foundation on your face will make wrinkles appear more. Try using a tinted moisturizer in a shade or two darker than your skin for best results. Avoid using powder because it sits on top of wrinkles, making them more prominent. Don’t forget to take it off before you go to bed.

5. Diet high in antioxidants

Free radical molecules, present in the sun’s rays, tobacco, and smoke, can damage your skin. Foods rich in antioxidants can help protect your skin from these detrimental effects. Some foods with amounts of antioxidants include cranberries, blackberries, kidney beans, pecans, dark chocolate, and goji berries. More common sources of antioxidants include tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, sweet potatoes, broccoli, grapes, and squash. Eat a diet with a moderate amount of these foods to help keep your skin youthful.

Botox isn’t the only solution to dealing with wrinkles. Utilize these other methods for a cheaper alternative to keeping your healthy and youthful appearance.
